Belle Fourche Mon Coco

Belle Fourche Mon Coco

Name: Belle Fourche Mon Coco
Sire: Rainbow Hills Big Mac Dam: Belle Fourche Mon Amie

Mon Coco is a polled dun bull who has a unique, “old” bloodline for our herd. He was produced using straws from Rainbow Hills Big Mac, a deceased bull who has not had straws available in at least decade. Mon Coco’s name, meaning “My Egg,” refers to the fact he was produced by embryo transfer – although most think it is his color! His first calves are on the ground now, and they have a lot of depth, good body length, a long hip and nice clean/level tail sets. He has, so far, only been bred to our cows. We feel like this is a good bull for adding depth and improving tail heads (moving away from the “dent” and the raised and/or recessed tail that has become increasingly common in American Dexters, (and more severe in animals with the trait in the pedigree multiple times). Mon Coco is too young to have heifers who have freshened, although we have a sister of his with a lovely udder, who freshened this fall. He has only had 7 calves so far, (all heifers). He has a very calm, outgoing personality and had a small calving weight despite being carried by a rather large recipient cow. We know some people are still selecting for the A2 trait in their own herds, and this bull is homozygous A2.
